Error codes and troubleshooting
| Code | Meaning | What to do | Manual page |
|---|---|---|---|
| AC CIRCUIT PROTECTOR | Switches to OFF automatically when there is a short circuit or a significant overload at the 20A receptacles. | Check that the appliance works properly and does not exceed the circuit's rated load capacity before pushing the protector to reset it ON. | 6 |
| CO ALARM | CO-MINDER detected a high carbon monoxide concentration and stopped the engine. The indicator flashes for about five minutes. | Move the generator to fresh air, away from the source of carbon monoxide, and not in an enclosed area. Press the CO-MINDER reset button, then restart using the standard procedure. If the indicator stays on after reset, the sensor may be near end of life. | 7 |
| FAULT/CO SENSOR LIFE | The CO-MINDER sensor is reaching the end of its useful life. Flashing once every 4 seconds means about 6 months to 1 year remains. Flashing once every 2 seconds means about 6 months or less remains. | Contact an authorized Honda Power Equipment dealer for CO sensor replacement. Call service if it persists. | 7 |
| Oil Alert Indicator/Check | Crankcase oil level has fallen below a safe limit. The Oil Alert system automatically stops the engine to prevent damage, while the engine switch stays in the ON position. | Check the engine oil level before troubleshooting other areas. Add oil as needed. | 7 |
| Overload Alarm | Generator is overloaded (over 2.8 kVA), a connected appliance has a short circuit, or the inverter is overheated. Output shuts off after about 4-10 seconds while the engine keeps running. A brief alarm when a motor starts is normal. | Stop the engine and investigate. Determine whether the cause is a short circuit in an appliance or an overload, correct it, then restart. If the alarm stays on during motor startup, consult your generator dealer. | 7 |
| End of serviceable life | The GFCI LED is on, indicating the GFCI has reached the end of its serviceable life. | This section gives no specific repair step for this state. If the GFCI does not function as described in the operation check, contact an authorized Honda generator dealer. Call service if it persists. | 9 |

FAQ
Can the Honda EB2800i start a sump pump or well pump?
Starting surge matters more than running watts: this unit is rated 2800 W peak. That covers a typical 1/2 HP sump pump (about 2150 W to start). Use the calculator with your exact pump.
