Error codes and troubleshooting
| Code | Meaning | What to do | Manual page |
|---|---|---|---|
| RED | Carbon monoxide has accumulated around the generator and the unit shut off due to a CO hazard. The red light flashes for at least five minutes after shut-off. Automatic shutoff with a flashing red light means the generator was improperly located. | Move the generator to an open outdoor area far from occupied spaces, with the exhaust pointed away. Once it is in a safe area, it can be restarted. Introduce fresh air and ventilate the area where the generator shut down. | 4 |
| YELLOW | A CO Sentry system fault occurred. The generator shut down automatically, and the yellow light flashes for at least five minutes after the fault. | The generator can be restarted, but it may continue to shut off. | 4 |
| CO | Detects the presence of carbon monoxide and may shut down the unit automatically for safety. | The manual gives no specific reset step for this indicator. If dizziness, weakness, or nausea occur, turn the unit off, move to fresh air, and seek medical attention. Operate only outdoors, away from enclosed spaces. | 5 |
| Low Oil LED | The engine oil level has fallen below the safe operating limit (270 ml or less). The engine shuts off automatically and cannot restart until the proper oil amount is added. | Add the appropriate oil until the level is at the proper mark. SAE 10W-30 is recommended for general use. Do not run the engine with too little oil. | 14 |
| OVERLOAD | The total load on the outlets exceeds the generator's running power. If the light turns on and the generator stops producing power, it has been overloaded. The light may flash briefly when a large device starts. | Turn off and disconnect all electrical devices and stop the engine. Compare device requirements to the generator rating and reduce connected wattage if necessary. Check and reset any tripped circuit breakers, then restart and reconnect devices without overloading. | 14 |
| LOW OIL | The engine oil level is too low. The engine shuts off automatically when the oil falls below a critical level. | Add the appropriate oil, SAE 10w-30 recommended for general use, until the oil is at the proper level. The engine cannot be restarted until the proper amount of oil has been added. | 15 |

FAQ
Can the Pulsar PGD170TiSRCO start a sump pump or well pump?
Starting surge matters more than running watts: this unit is rated 17000 W peak. That covers a typical 1/2 HP sump pump (about 2150 W to start). Use the calculator with your exact pump.
