Error codes and troubleshooting
| Code | Meaning | What to do | Manual page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battery Malfunction | Flashing means the unit can no longer charge beyond 40% of its original capacity. If the icon stays lit without flashing, the unit has had an unrecoverable failure. | — | 3 |
| COLD | The unit's temperature is below the permissible operating range. The unit is not operational until it returns to the lowest acceptable operating temperature. | Allow the unit to warm to within the permissible operating temperature range before use. | 3 |
| HOT | The unit's temperature is above its rating, which can result from high loads in a high ambient environment. The unit is not operational until it cools to the permissible operating temperature range. | Stop the load and allow the unit to cool to the permissible operating temperature range before resuming use. | 3 |
| LOW | The input voltage is below the rating. The unit accepts only inputs that meet each port's specifications. When this icon is lit, the input is not charging the unit. | Confirm the input source supplies a 13V to 30V DC signal as listed in General Specifications. If the voltage is outside this range, the input port shuts off. | 3 |
| OL | Shown on the LCD when the power station is overloaded. The green indicators on overloaded ports flash for 10 seconds, and the ports shut down. An overloaded input port shuts off automatically. | Turn off all ports and disconnect all devices, including the charging cord. Check each device's power requirements against the unit's capacity. Reconnect only necessary devices, then turn on the USB, 12V, and/or AC outlets. If the unit will not reset, disconnect everything, wait 2 minutes, then activate the required ports and reconnect devices. | 5 |
| OL | The overload symbol "OL" appears on the display when a port is drawing more power than allowed. The green LED of the overloaded port flashes for 10 seconds to signal the overload. | Turn off all ports. Unplug all devices, including the battery's charging cable. Confirm that each device's maximum power requirement is within the battery's capacity. Reconnect only the necessary devices. Re-enable the USB, 12 V and/or AC outlets to resume charging. If an input port overloads, it shuts off automatically and reactivates once the input source meets the stated requirements. Recharge only with the supplied AC wall charger or the APP port. | 11 |

FAQ
How long will the Klein Tools KTB1000 run a refrigerator?
About 19 hours for a typical 120 W refrigerator that runs 35 % of the time, after inverter and depth-of-discharge losses.
Can the Klein Tools KTB1000 start a sump pump or well pump?
Starting surge matters more than running watts: this unit is rated 1500 W output (no separate peak published). That is below a typical 1/2 HP sump pump start (about 2150 W); check your pump label. Use the calculator with your exact pump.
